Joah at 8 months:
Weight and Height:
Weighed for a sick visit at 8 months 1 week and he's a whopping 20 pounds 9 ounces!
Appearance: Joah is looking more and more like Joah (himself!) to me. I see traits of both brothers in him and both parents (but we hear so many differing opinions on who he looks like and really about all of our boys all the time). He's got light brownish/blondish hair sticking up and blue eyes with a brown sunburst. Maybe they are changing or maybe they are just really special...either way it's clear I've been gazing in those eyes. I'm smitten with this happy, smiley guy!
Eating: Nursing on demand still; I did pump and let him have some milk from a transition bottle/cup this week (crazy that it's taken this long, I know) and drinking water from a cup; he's really snubbing baby food and closing his lips when it comes towards him but enjoying all the little baby puffs, melts, teething wafers and just started with some other bits of table food which he seems to enjoy much more than baby food: soft banana, mandarin oranges, and vegetables from veggie soup that I made this week. Hopefully we can expand that to other foods soon.
Sleeping: he still takes several cat naps (in the morning and evening) and his longest nap in the afternoon
Interactions/development: he has taken off this month! Joah is sitting up very well, crawling to toys and pulling them out (crawled first after a toy - our other boys crawled first to a soda bottle and a cell phone. Ha!), pulling up but not completely stable and topples a lot (pulled up first to see Jude on our chair and a half), he is putting one foot under him and one out and trying to stand (see eight month picture), fine motor skills and getting small bits of food to his mouth very well, has just started babbling and saying "mamama" but i don't think he knows what he's saying yet.
Outings: first trip to South Carolina and met lots of family for the first time
Things he seems to like: being held, being worn in the ergo carrier, bath time, being outside, pacifier, watching and laughing at his big brothers, playing on the floor, and playing with toys!
Things he dislikes; being in the car seat especially later at night or when it's dark; Mama leaving him or being out of sight now, baby food
Health: he may be starting to teeth because he's very drooly and snotty lately but no teeth yet. (Shortly after writing this he got his first ear infection which was our first time having an ear infection with any of the boys.)
Temperament: He's probably the most happy, easy-going baby of the three! Everyone comments on how happy he is. He has started to fuss just a little when he's not pleased with something or when Mama leaves him in the nursery.

Happy 8 Months little Jo Bug! I can't imagine our family without you! You simultaneously make our family feel so complete and, yet, make me desire three more little boys just like you. You are a gift and a treasure and I hope you recognize all of your days what a fearfully, wonderfully made little life that you are. You are ours and more importantly you are His! You are fully loved and accepted in Jesus! Seek Him and trust Him all of your days. He is the most important thing and all the world pales in comparison. Mama and Daddy vow to live a life that makes it easy for you to accept his unconditional love because you've known ours. I love you, forever.
